The ride got off to a spectacular start with views of Mount Rainier from Hwy 169, just North of Enumclaw. At an elevation of 14,410 feet, Rainier dominates the Pacific Northwest. The point that looks like the top of the mountain from this perspective is Liberty Cap at 14,112 feet. Mowich Face is on the right, in the morning shadows, and Willis Wall is on the left. On the left edge is Curtis Ridge backed by Winthrop Glacier. A 4x zoom, brings everything a little closer. Incidentally, today's weather forcast.....rain and thunderstorms. Who would have guessed? |
