As the sun sets on day 2, I can't imagine a place with more rugged natural beauty than Chatterbox Falls. The roar and spray from the falls in harmony with a thousand everchanging ribbons of water from the tall cliffs create a symphony for the senses that seems to alter time.......and I find I'm staring at it for hours. The surroundings feel subalpine, but I know we are at sea level and the lush foliage seems to suggest rainforest......it's absolutely magical.
Right before nightfall, the police boat arrives to spend the night. I wonder if they heard that Ray and I were coming? I know we were kinda wild, once....but that was the "old days"....and we were much younger then.
So ends day 2. Pender Harbor to Chatterbox Falls. 57.5 miles in 2:54 hours with an average speed of 18 knots.
