Two days at the races....

It's been a long time since I last went to the Historics, 1996 to be exact. I remember having a great time. Parking my shiny 1983 guards red 944 in the Corral next to all the other Porsches; taking my 12 year old son with me to see all the high-octane sights and red-line sounds. And especially the Parade lap. That's where the Car Corral folks get to do a couple of laps around the course.....

slow by the grandstands with a wave to the spectators and mid way down the straight.....Zoom! All quite controlled and behind a pace car, but definitely exciting for a street driver.

This year the three day event commemorated 100 years of Ford racing. As you might imagine the GT 350 Mustangs

were out in force, along with some Shelby AC Cobras and GT40s.

Historic Trans-Am was the featured racing group, which made the legendary Parnelli Jones a perfect guest celebrity.

The car corral was fabulous, much larger than I remember.

Nearly all the local car clubs had a presence. From Alfas to Ferraris,

from Miatas to 'Z' cars,
